My friend @frivolousfuckery is such a lovely person, with the worst luck I have ever seen.

They are homeless, their car recently broke down (and it’s not cost-effective to repair it so they need a new one), they have a brain tumor, they need knee surgery, and they are pregnant.

Please give them money for food, housing, a car (cheapest available housing is a commute to their job), and medical costs. Anything helps. Direct donations are best because getting money from GoFundMe takes about a week.

URGENT: FUNDRAISING FOR BREAST CANCER TREATMENT

I have tried my absolute best not to seek financial help online, especially when our collective focus should be aimed towards the welfare of our Palestinians, Congolese, and Sudanese brothers and sisters. I truly have considered countless options before resorting to asking for monetary assistance but I no longer have the means to keep myself alive and my little family afloat. Following my father’s death almost three years ago due to colorectal cancer, I was diagnosed late last year with Stage 2A breast cancer.

I am genuinely sorry for this, but my sister is dying. If I could only ask for your permission one by one, I would, but I am afraid of the possibility that Tumblr may consider our plea as spam. I am reaching out because I am desperate.

My friend @frivolousfuckery is such a lovely person, with the worst luck I have ever seen.

They

  1. Became homeless at the end of January, due to the $2.35/hour tipped wage of North Carolina,
  2. Have a brain tumor they became aware of in September last year and for which they have been struggling to afford medical care, and
  3. Dislocated their knee two days ago by *checks notes* standing up, and now they need surgery because the tendons and ligaments are pulling apart.

The current situation:

They moved to Colorado where the wages are better (but still inadequate). They are currently uninsured and waiting to be approved for Medicaid. They are continuing to work at Waffle House in a knee brace because they have no choice, in spite of their symptoms: severe chronic fatigue and pain, migraines, nausea, trouble eating and sleeping, seizures, and significant hearing loss.

Our goals:

  1. We need to raise $400 for their doctor’s appointment for the knee that is in one week, on March 26.
  2. We need to raise about $4000 by April 1, in under two weeks, for them to get housing.
  3. The brain cancer treatment is kind of on hold because the other two issues are more pressing but obviously it would be great to raise more money so they can afford treatment for that too.

We have been fundraising since September when they found out about the tumor, and we’ve raised less than $2000. We desperately need to speed up the process in order for them to get the care they need.

Anything you can give, even a dollar, will make a tremendous difference in their health, safety, and quality of life.

Please help save my friend’s life.

Less than an hour after I made this post, their car broke down, and fixing it costs more than the car does, so now they also need a new car. It is urgent. They have had to sleep in their car at times, they need it to get to work, and it is still getting below freezing at night where they are. Please help.

They need to raise the money for housing by the first or they will lose a sizeable deposit! We have received $50 directly and $10 through gofundme since I made this post.

what is THE worst thing you’ve ever drank. all liquids acceptable. please tell me what it was, bonus points for why

Hey whoa hi. Hello. I am looking directly into your ear canal. What do you mean you drank a tube of virus concentrate.

So, I was working in a lab, right? My job in the lab was preparing a pure, concentrated enough sample of virus. This is tricky since, y'know, viruses require hosts to replicate, but you then need to get the host cells (and the pieces of the host cells that died!) out of the sample while still keeping the viruses. Once I’d finished and the samples had been sent to the database for analysis as well as a second one sent to be frozen for future reference, there was still some left over that needed to be disposed of.

I, knowing that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, waited carefully for the lab director to be deep in conversation with someone else on the other side of the laboratory. And then I took my chance.

Test tubes, as it turns out, are really bad as shot glasses. Their shape turns any liquid inside into a stream, so you really can’t knock it back quickly - it takes a couple seconds. Additionally, the best way I can describe the taste of virus concentrate was “sterile rot”. A very unique kind of bad! Made worse by the test tube’s inefficiency as a shot glass.

(by the way we were studying bacteriophages, not animal viruses. these viruses are too specialized on attacking prokaryotes to even recognize our cells as targets at all, according to studies.)

(but also like. if the viruses managed to successfully switch hosts and killed me with a violent infection, itd still be worth it.)

(for science.)

My friend @frivolousfuckery has a brain tumor, along with many other disabilities. Their current symptoms are severe chronic fatigue and pain, migraines, nausea, trouble eating and sleeping, seizures, and significant hearing loss.

They’ve been having to reschedule urgent medical appointments as the brain tumor grows because they cannot afford the up-front cost, as well as struggling to afford food and medicine. This is due to low wages ($2.35/hour plus meager tips) and being unable to work full-time currently.

They escaped homelessness last year but they are in danger of becoming homeless again at the end of January. We have been fundraising since September and have received less than $100 directly and $1300 through gofundme. We need to get to at least $2500 by January 31 in order to facilitate them moving from North Carolina to Colorado, where there are better wages, social services, and healthcare.

Anything you can give, even a dollar, will make a tremendous difference in their health, safety, and quality of life.

Please help save my friend’s life.

Lady on Facebook: do hawks really avoid black chickens?

This guy:

I can’t breathe what the fuck 😂

Sir I think you’ve confused hawks with snakes. It’s an easy mistake to make. Here’s how to tell the difference: hawks fly and snakes do not.

EXCUSE ME!

This is “Flying” Snake erasure.

Gliding doesn’t count. Flying foxes and flying fish can glide, that isn’t

Okay listen

excuse me are you saying that flying foxes, the bats, the bats called flying foxes, cannot fly

No they can I was thinking of sugar gliders
